As the COVID-19 pandemic began disrupting our lives and overwhelming healthcare workers in April of 2020, TB12 made a commitment to take care of the brave frontline workers who were sacrificing so much to keep the public safe. We offered free sessions for all frontline healthcare workers in order to help with the physical & mental stress of their jobs given the ongoing demands of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Registered Nurse Sarah McCaffrey had been treating some of the first patients with Coronavirus in the US in California when she got the call that she would be moved back home to Massachusetts for a crisis contract in the Covid ICU. Despite being back home near family, the isolation and trauma Sarah was experiencing as a nurse put her mental and physical health at risk. Her spirit and motivation for life was at an all time low due to the circumstances and amount of sickness that surrounded her.
It was right around that time in early April when Sarah received a call from a family friend who told her about the free sessions TB12 was offering for nurses like herself.
“I was surprised to get an appointment so quickly, I didn’t know what TB12 was or what you did for people,” said Sarah. “I had no idea that you could help people like me live pain-free.”
In between sleeping for her night shifts and working in the hospital, she began working with TB12 Body Coach Matt Leeds. After her first virtual session with Matt, Sarah said she immediately felt better and noticed her mindset beginning to shift.
“I went from trying to mentally survive each day to aspiring to improve in multiple areas of my life,” said Sarah. “Working with Matt allowed me to take my mind off the work scenarios I continued to face, such as treating a patient who was younger than me and on a ventilator in the ICU with COVID.”
“The whole process has been amazing, I played soccer and basketball in college and had three knee surgeries. I’ve always loved sports but had my college career taken from me because of my knee,” she said. “I’ve struggled with pain for the last few years, even with things as simple as walking up the stairs or going for a light run.

Working with Matt and TB12 helped Sarah push past the chronic pain and other limitations she was facing and get back to being active, healthy, and pain-free.
“Matt helped me focus on strengthening the muscles like my glutes and core that were having an impact on my knee. I feel stronger and I’m doing so many new movements without pain,” said Sarah. “I went for a run a few days ago, and for the first time in years was able to run over a mile with no pain. It’s really remarkable.”
She credits Matt’s mindset for helping her improve and get stronger during these challenging times, something that we try to work on with all of our clients at TB12.
“To express how much TB12 had helped me during such a grueling time, I would have to admit how low of a place I was in to begin with. From the bottom of my heart, TB12, I thank you for the profound gift I have received. I am so appreciative of my time with Matt over the last several months. The knowledge I have gained is a gift that will keep on giving.”
