Meet TB12 Body Coach Deven Alves!
Deven has been a TB12 Body Coach since 2017, and is currently the Assistant Head Body Coach at our Performance & amp; Recovery Center in Boston. Deven is from Pepperell, Massachusetts, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from the A.T. Still University. Deven is a Certified Athletic Trainer.
Deven is a lifelong hockey player and fan, and enjoys playing golf and doing mixed martial arts in his free time outside of work. Some of Deven's clients include a soldier in the US Army, a baseball player battling Type 1 Diabetes, and a father whose crippling pain left him struggling to hold his kids – before Deven was able to get him through this debilitating injury to the point where he could be a father again."I love having the ability to help a client through all facets of an injury. Not just stopping at the physical, but also being able to strengthen the mental, cognitive aspect as well," says Deven. "We are all a huge family here – my client is everyone’s client, and everyone’s client is my client."
Deven loves learning new treatment approaches and techniques from his fellow Body Coaches, and is never afraid to ask for input and sit back and listen. "The human body is not as simple as one system – you have to be able to understand that the body is a complexity. You have to look at all things in the person’s life that could affect the body: environmental, cultural, spiritual, and the sports they play," says Deven. "You have to really invest yourself in the client’s life, and the more you can have those investments in your clients the more passionate you'll be about getting them to the ultimate outcome."
