It’s grilling season. That means sizzling meats over an open flame. Grilled chicken is one of the healthiest ways to add variety to your summer protein. This easy marinade is a great way to transform bland chicken into a patio favorite.

Ingredients

2 boneless chicken breasts

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons of reduced-sodium soy sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions

Cut three slits across the top of each of the chicken breasts.

Combine olive oil, reduced-sodium soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper in one small bowl. Stir to ensure combination. Pour half into a second small bowl.

Generously brush both sides of the chicken with the contents of the first small bowl.

Preheat grill to medium-high heat

Grill chicken until cooked all the way through. An eight-ounce chicken breast takes about 6 minutes per side.

Transfer chicken to a grill pan. Using a clean pastry brush and the second small bowl of marinade, apply another coat of marinade to the chicken.

Tent the chicken and let it rest for five to 10 minutes with a sheet of tinfoil.
